What We Saw at the 46th Zhejiang Bike Expo 2026: Even Phoenix and Forever Are Now Sourcing Carbon Parts
From the 46th Zhejiang Bike Expo 2026: carbon frame, fork, and wheelset trends for bike brands — T800 going mid-range, carbon e-bikes arriving, and what to source next.

What We Saw at the 46th Zhejiang Bike Expo 2026: Even Phoenix and Forever Are Now Sourcing Carbon Parts
October 10–12, 2026. Hangzhou International Expo Center. We drove in from Tongxiang — about an hour and a half west. The osmanthus was still blooming outside. Inside the venue, things were quieter than we expected.
Who We Are and Why We Were There
BOKARV supplies carbon fiber components to bicycle brands and distributors worldwide. Our line covers carbon frames, forks, wheelsets, handlebars, and seatposts — road, mountain, gravel, and e-bike. We're not a consumer brand. We're the manufacturing partner behind the brands that put their own names on the bike.So when we walk a trade show, we're not looking for our end customer. We're looking for signals: what parts brands are asking for, what specs are moving, where the supply chain is heading. That's why we were at the 46th China Zhejiang International Bicycle & E-bike Exhibition in Hangzhou — to read the market for the bike brands we manufacture for.

First Impressions: The Show Is Smaller Than You'd Think — and That Tells You Something
Let's be honest. The first thing that hit us was not a product — it was how quiet the aisles were. The show floor felt spacious, almost too spacious. Attendees were few. Walk the list of exhibitors and a pattern emerges: the actual component factories — the carbon molding shops, the CNC houses, the wheel builders — basically didn't come. What you see on the floor are brands, trading companies, and national distributors. This is a brand showcase and channel event, not a sourcing event. That's actually a signal in itself. Zhejiang's carbon supply chain is mature enough that factories don't need to come to trade shows. They live on repeat orders and word-of-mouth referrals. The supply chain isn't on the show floor — it's out there in the industrial parks around Tongxiang, Kunshan, and Shenzhen. This year's theme was "First Launch, First Display, First Show." The organizers advertised 300+ overseas buyers flown in from six markets. We'll be straight: we didn't see that many international faces on the floor. The big brand booths still looked impressive, of course. XDS had their X-LAB series lined up with Astana team branding. Giant took up a full island booth. But beyond those headline booths, the halls were half-empty.

Four Trends — and What They Mean for Bike Brands Sourcing Carbon Parts
1. T800 Carbon Is No Longer "Pro-Only" — Your Brand Can Spec It Without Pricing Yourself Out
A few years ago, T800 high-modulus carbon was reserved for frames above the $1,500 price tier. This year, we saw multiple complete bikes spec'ing T800 across the whole build — frame, fork, wheelset, crank — at around 6.8 kg, with retail prices lower than we expected. What this means for brands sourcing parts from us: The price of entry for a "T800" carbon build has dropped. You no longer need to position a bike as pro-level to spec T800. We're already building T800 frames, forks, and handlebars for mid-range complete bikes — and the layup and weave options are more flexible than you'd think. The buyer question has shifted from "why carbon?" to "what grade, what weave, what layup?" — so your spec sheet needs to answer that, not just say "carbon fiber."
2. Even Phoenix and Forever Are Now Sourcing Carbon Parts — Here's Your Window
This was the moment that stopped us cold.Walking past a few unassuming booths, we saw names we never expected to see next to carbon bikes: Phoenix, Forever, and Jiuselu — the legacy Chinese commuter bike brands that have been around for 50+ years. This year, they all had carbon fiber bikes and e-bikes on display.Think about what that means. These brands don't move fast. They don't chase trends. If Phoenix and Forever are putting carbon frames in their lineup, two things are true:
- Carbon manufacturing cost has hit a mass-market level.
- Everyday consumers are ready to buy "carbon" as a category — not just pro racers.
What this means for brands sourcing parts from us: The carbon bike market is no longer a niche. If you're a regional brand, distributor, or startup launching a carbon line, you're now competing not just with other premium brands — you're competing with Phoenix and Forever. But here's the good news: these legacy brands don't have their own carbon manufacturing. Neither do most small and mid-sized brands. That's the gap we fill. We manufacture the frames, forks, wheelsets, handlebars, and seatposts; you put your brand on them.
3. Carbon E-Bike Frames Are Moving — and Your Next E-Bike Line Should Spec Carbon
The e-bike section was the most crowded area of the show. But what stopped us wasn't another aluminum city e-bike — it was a few carbon e-bike frames mixed in.Historically, e-bikes have run aluminum frames because the battery and motor already add so much weight. The logic was: why spend money on carbon when the bike is already heavy? That logic is flipping. Once you've committed to a mid-drive motor and a battery, the frame is the place to claw weight back. What this means for brands sourcing parts from us: If you're launching an e-bike line for Europe or North America in 2027, a carbon frame and carbon fork is no longer a "premium option" — it's becoming a competitive necessity. We're already developing carbon e-bike frames and forks designed around mid-drive motors and integrated battery systems. Talk to us early; tooling lead times are 60–90 days.
4. Gravel Keeps Growing — and 32" Wheels Are a New Spec Worth Watching
The gravel zone continues to expand year over year. This year, one detail caught our eye: 32-inch wheel-size gravel frames, sitting between 700C and 650B. North American and European rural riders are the early adopters. What this means for brands sourcing parts from us: If your gravel line has been 700C-only, it's worth talking to us about a 32" option. We're already in sample-tooling conversations with our molding partner. Early movers get exclusive specs in their market.
What We Learned About How Brands Actually Source
Walking the show reset a few assumptions about how bike brands find their component partners:
- Brands aren't finding their factories at trade shows. With foot traffic this thin and factories absent, the brands we spoke to were sourcing through referrals, Alibaba, and direct outreach — not booths. That's exactly why we built BOKARV as a direct-to-brand manufacturing partner online.
- Brands know what they're looking at. The few brand buyers we met were inspecting bottom bracket junctions with their fingers. Your spec sheets, test reports, and layup diagrams need to be airtight — because the buyer on the other end knows what T47 and BB92 mean.
- The supply chain is in the industrial parks, not the expo hall. That's where we live. We visit mold shops, check layups, and approve paint on behalf of the brands we manufacture for.
